Event Details

The COMPASS Assessment reviews your reading, math and writing skills. COMPASS is required of all new students who have not taken the ACT Exam.  Exceptions are students with prior college experience and/or guest students.  Guest students are those who are not seeking a degree or certificate from NSCC.

What should I do before the assessment?

Complete an application for admission and pay the $20 application fee. Students who have not applied for admission will not be permitted to register for COMPASS.

What should I bring?

Please bring your Social Security number OR Northwest State student ID number.

Bring a calculator with you.  Graphing calculators are not permitted.

How long does it take?

COMPASS is not timed. Plan on about 1.5 hours to complete the assessment.

When will I get my results?

Results print out immediately upon completion of the assessment.

Can I study for the assessment?

Where do I go for the assessment?

Please report 15 minutes prior to the test time in Room A103 which is located on the first floor of Building A.  Easiest access is from the east entrance to Building A.
